ALLOY 20 / UNS N08020 / W.NR. 2.4660 FASTENERS are austenitic stainless steel alloys. Their base elements consist of chromium and nickel, with a considerable amount of iron content. The Alloy 20 Fasteners can withstand different chemically bound environments such as sulfuric acids. It also acts as an anti-oxidizing alloy when it comes to exposure to certain acids like phosphoric acids. UNS N08020 Fasteners can also withstand chlorine-bound environments such as seawater or offshore environments. Intergranular corrosion can occur, but as this alloy consists of niobium, it prevents any damage to the structure. They also can stand high-level temperatures which could be upto 1000 degrees Fahrenheit. These fasteners are also highly resistant to corrosion pitting, the stress caused by the pressure, and other irregularities. The W.NR. 2.4660 FASTENERS are made by traditional hot or cold working processes. The process of annealing further follows the hot working process. Annealing is done inch by inch, depending upon the thickness of the material. As a result, these fasteners can be fabricated and are also weldable.
Carpenter 20 FASTENERS are cheap compared to the other fasteners available; this could be one of the main reasons for their demand as they perform even better than the other stainless steel fasteners, which are comparatively even more expensive.
